Mapping transactions

ACH Universal > First Steps > ACH Universal Self-Guided Tour > Mapping transactions

Overview

ACH Universal will conform to your data.  It does not require any certain field order (for example, date does not have to be first).  To accomplish this, the mapping process teaches ACH Universal the relationship between fields and their purpose.

Steps

In Figure 1 (below), you see the ACH Column Mapping dialog box.

There are (visible above) 4 columns with green headers and one with a red header.  Green means mapped.  Red means not mapped.

Mapped simply means that each green column will be imported into ACH Universal, and ACH Universal will associate that column with the name in the green header.  Effectively, this defines the purpose of the field for creating the ACH file.

For example, the first column from the spreadsheet is called Amount.  Above, we are mapping this column as the ACH Universal field Amount.  For any field you do not wish to import (and thus exclude from the ACH file, you will leave it with a red header).

Click Next.

You will now see the Review Records dialog box (Figure 2 below).  This screen provides a summary of the imported and non-imported records.

Some reasons a record was not imported include:

Column header or footer
Summary information
Data is invalid for the mapping (for example, the field mapped as ABA/Routing Number contains an entry that is not a valid Routing Number).

To review either grouping, click the Expand grouping button to expand.

If you expand the Importable grouping, you can view the Date, Amount, and Name of a sample of the records, as well as a summary of all the data (number of records, total amount).

If you expand the Invalid Rows grouping, you can view the records that could not be imported and the reason the record was excluded.  If headers or other expected exclusions happen, you will see these.  If a record is excluded, you can see the reason.

Click Next.

The next (and final screen) lets you know that the import has been completed successfully.

Click Finish.

At this point the import is completed. When all your transactions are completed, you may be importing profiles for vendors or employees.  That is not the case for the sample data so that step will be skipped.
