ACH Universal > Importing Transactions > Importing Transactions

Overview

Importing Transactions is the process to import transactional data into ACH Universal.

Required

Data is in a tabular file. See Gathering Data for more information.

If you are using profiles, they must be imported before any transactions.  If you have never imported profiles, see Importing Profiles.  If you have already imported profiles that will be used, no profile import is required as they are retained by ACH Universal.

Minimum Transaction Information

At a minimum, a transaction must contain:

Amount

AND EITHER

Account Number and Routing Number (not using profiles)

OR

Name or ID (for profile lookup)

When not using profiles, banks will often require a name (of the payee), but this is not a requirement for the ACH file.

Steps

At the ACH Universal Main Screen, click the Import Transactions button.  Alternatively, you can click the "Import Data" link in the left pane or select Import, then ACH Transactions from the main menu.  No matter which method you choose, the ACH Transactions Import Wizard will be displayed (Figure 1 below).

You can:

Click the Folder button and browse to the proper file (most common).
Copy data from Excel and paste into the grid at the bottom.

Best practice is to import data as a file.

Click Next.

The ACH Transaction Column Mapping screen will be displayed (Figure 2 below).
